Veteran’s Day Flag Retirement

Each Veteran’s Day weekend, the Residents Association partners with the Brandywine Battlefield Park to honor our Veterans. This event is a formal flag retirement ceremony hosted by our local American Legion Posts and several Boy Scout Troops.

People are invited to bring their used and worn American flags to this event. The Association also collects flags throughout the year at our special collection box at the Chadds Ford Township Municipal Building and our flag collection event in the spring. (include link to that event).

This is a rare opportunity to see a formal flag retirement ceremony which includes flag folding, flag dedications and a special flag burning.

About the Brandywine Battlefield Park

Brandywine Battlefield Park serves the educational needs of the public through the preservation of the cultural landscape and the interpretation of the largest single day battle of the American Revolution.

The Battle of Brandywine was the largest single day engagement of the American Revolution where nearly 30,000 soldiers squared off on a ten square mile area of roughly 35,000 acres. Brandywine Battlefield Park is a 52-acre park that was the epicenter of George Washington’s continental encampment.
