OsoSweet Bakery Café – Outstanding Business of the Year 2024

Established in 2020, OsoSweet Bakery Café, under the careful stewardship of its owner, Tess Wofford, has established itself as a community center within Chadds Ford Village. In a few short years it has become a welcoming gathering place for young and old—a place where longtime residents, hotel guests, and those just passing through all feel welcome. Located at 1609 Baltimore Pike within the historic Barn Shops, Tess has thoughtfully honored the long history of the location and maintained its rustic character and charm. The success of the bakery café along with its Pizza Nights and live music have contributed to the revitalization of the Shops and Chadds Ford Village. OsoSweet Bakery Café has also given back to the community in numerous ways including hosting baking classes for local Girl Scouts, after hours classes for special needs students, donations of food and gift cards to local organizations, and discounts for teachers. Tess has also given baking classes as part of Unionville High School’s Wellness Days program. Giving back to the Chadds Ford community is a fundamental value to Tess and her team. Tess Wofford and the OsoSweet Bakery Café staff were honored at an event held at the Chadds Ford Township Municipal Building on June 24th.

Chadds Ford Tree Service – Outstanding Business of the Year 2022

Few businesses exemplify the values of this award more than Chadds Ford Tree Service. Owned and operated by the King family for decades, they are long-term stewards of the Chadds Ford community and its heritage. Many of you know owner Rob King through his many years of selfless service as a Township Supervisor, an elder of the Brandywine Baptist Church and his work on the Open Space Committee. Or perhaps you remember his annual Township Pig Roast at his home on Ring Road. Or even the time spent keeping Chadds Ford history alive through the stories he contributed to the many people researching Chadds Ford and its most famous resident, Andrew Wyeth. But you may not be as familiar with the quiet volunteerism Rob and his family have performed through his company. They’ve done a wide range of work: hanging the Christmas wreath and banner, trail maintenance of the new Harvey Run trail, and tree donations to the Township and Brandywine Battlefield Park. They have cleared an untold number of logs and fallen trees from the park and have donated free firewood and mulch to the Chadds Ford Historical Society and performed free tree maintenance.   It is our honor to present The Chadds Ford Resident Association Business of the Year 2022 Award to Chadds Ford Tree Service.
